What is the best way to diet & exercise when all the healthy foods are so expensive?
Financially I am not able to join a gym, or any of the diet plans like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. I am slowly losing weight by speed walking and cutting back on my food intake. I was wondering if there were any good specific exercises I could do. I set small goals so I don’t get discouraged and rarely set a time frame, however I am in a wedding at the end of July and I’d like to look my best. Any suggestions?
Be honest with yourself. There is only so much you can do in a month, and it can be a little dangerous to starve yourself or overdo it with exercise. The thinnest and healthiest people are not necessarily the ones who go to the gym, but the ones who exercise outside doing things that excite them and therefore become a fun and sustainable part of their lives. Going for a walk or run outside is usually a lot more stimulating and rewarding than doing it on a machine in the gym. So I think you are doing well if you are seeing regular progress. I would simply continue to be careful about food quantity. You might want to add a second type of exercise to your weekly routine, including workouts with simple weights, which you can buy cheaply at a sporting goods store. Sleep well. Avoid alcohol. Keep the routine and be proud of yourself that you are making progress.
